Low carbon fuels, hydrogen and CO2 Consultant

EXERGIA (www.exergia.gr) is an independent firm of consultants, established in 1991, operating internationally in more than 50 countries in the fields of Energy, Environment, Water and Climate Change.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and results-driven Low carbon fuels, hydrogen and/or CO2 reduction expert to join the company’s Energy Policy and Planning Unit and support execution of international consulting projects that contribute to the development of the relevant policy landscape.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Engage in the development and implementation of projects in the area of low carbon fuels (for road transportation, aviation and maritime), renewable hydrogen and synthetic fuels, including energy and climate policies analysis, policy impact assessment studies, sectoral and national planning, etc., across geographies (EU, Africa, Central Asia)
  • Work in assignments funded by international organizations such the European Commissions, the World Bank, the EIB, the EBRD, etc., as well as innovative companies of the private sector
  • Contribute to the drafting of relevant proposals in response to international tenders or private sector requests
  • Participate in project analytical work and preparation of project reports and deliverables
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and reports for clients and stakeholders
  • Support with the overall management of projects (national and international), working with international development organizations and donors, as well as the private sector
  • Participate in the business development process of the Energy Policy and Planning Business Unit and explore opportunities for business development within established or new markets

Qualifications and skills

  • First degree in Engineering or another relevant discipline (Science, Technology and Engineering)
  • Postgraduate degree in the energy field
  • At least 5 years familiarity with and experience in the analysis of EU policies, directives and regulations on the Energy and Climate areas, including sustainable transport fuels, advanced biofuels, synthetic fuels, hydrogen, CO2 (RED III, FuelEU Maritime, REFuelEU Aviation, Fit-for-55 framework, etc.)
  • Good understanding of concepts and technologies supporting energy transition, including technologies of advanced biofuels and synthetic fuels
  • Desirable qualifications: experience in consulting / advisory services and project implementation, especially in the above areas; experience in management of R&D and Innovation project; familiarity with the tendering procedures of EU donors and IFIs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, result driven, self-disciplined
  • Strong proven analytical and report-writing skills, coupled with attention to detail
  • Excellent proven command of written and spoken English and Greek. Knowledge of more languages (in particular French) would be an asset but it is not required.

Energy Policy & Planning Junior Consultant

Energy Markets & Regulatory Junior Consultant

The services provided by the Energy Markets and Regulation Department include among others reform of energy markets and implementation of EU acquis provisions as well as development of regulatory frameworks on the energy sector.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Engage in the implementation of projects funded by donors like EBRD, EIB, World Bank, IFC and private sector clients in the area of Energy Markets and Regulation across geographies. In particular: participate in project analytical work and preparation of project reports and deliverables; prepare and deliver presentations and reports for clients and stakeholders; support with the overall management of projects (national and international), working with international development organizations and IFIs, as well as the private sector

  • At least 7 years of experience in consulting / advisory services and project implementation in the above areas
  • Familiarity with the tendering procedures of EU donors and IFIs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and report-writing skills, coupled with attention to detail
