Completion of the Technical Assistance project to support implementation of water and sanitation programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina
In May 2015, the EU-funded project “Technical Assistance project to support implementation of water and sanitation programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina” which was awarded to the consortium IGIP – Ingenieurgesellschaft für internationale Planungsaufgaben mbH, NAMA Consulting Engineers and Planners S.A. and EXERGIA – Energy and Environment Consultants S.A. ended after 26 months implementation period. The overall objective of the Project was to contribute to the improvement of the environmental (water and sanitation) infrastructure in selected Municipalities of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ready-made project documentation, such as feasibility studies and financial affordability analysis, conceptual designs, preliminary designs, detailed designs, budget and financing plans, tender documents and other technical assistance studies and services for investment projects in water and sanitation infrastructure advanced enough for financing by EIB and other international donors with particular attention through co-financing of infrastructure.
In the course of the implementation of this EU project, the Technical Assistance Consultant completed design and tender documents for the Wastewater Treatment Plants in Teslić, Lukavac, Kupres, Velika Kladuša and Orašje, for Water Supply Investments in Glamoč, Bosansko Grahovo, Jajce, Prozor-Rama, Petrovo and Nevesinje, for waste and storm water systems in Široki Brijeg, for sewer collectors in Kupres and Nevesinje, tender documents for three Water Treatment Plants and the sewer network extension in Gračanica, and Feasibility Studies for the Municipalities of Čelinac, Ribnik and Šekovići.
Based on the completed project documentation, the water supply investments in Glamoč and Bosansko Grahovo and sewerage investments in Gračanica were constructed during the implementation period of the PPF TA. The tender for three water treatment plants in Gračanica was published before the end of the PPF TA project.
Implementation of priority infrastructure investment projects based on the project documentation prepared by the PPF TA will bring the following benefits:
- 16 Municipalities supported
- More than 200.000 P.E. serviced by the investments
- 5 Waste Water Treatment Plants servicing approx. 100.000 P.E.
- 3 Water Treatment Plants of total capacity 45 l/s
- 75 km of water supply networks
- 50 km of waste and storm water networks
- Investments of 20 million euro through the preparation of 3 feasibility studies
Transfer of know-how in project development and financing techniques to the Beneficiaries, to enhance skills of local human resources within government institutions, but also local municipal authorities and utilities.
59 municipal and public utility staff, members of the PITs/PMUs have received training on International Procurement Procedures, Financial Planning and Cost Benefit Analysis for the WATSAN Programmes in RS and FBiH.
