Completion of two kick-off meetings in Sierra Leone and Liberia for the elaboration of the SE4ALL Investment Prospectuses
Between August 5th and 20th 2016 EXERGIA in the course of its participation in the project Technical Assistance Facility for the Sustainable Energy for All Initiative West and Central Africa: “Elaboration of the SE4ALL Investment Prospectuses in 8 of the 15 ECOWAS member states”, organized and participated in two kick-off meetings in Sierra Leone and Liberia, for starting the process of elaboration of the Investment Prospectuses for the two countries, as a follow up to the respective Action Agendas.
Key energy sector stakeholders have participated in the meetings and country teams have been formed, in order information on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency investment needs to be collected, assessed and presented in a systematic manner. Investment Prospectuses provide an approach to operationalizing the Country Action Agenda towards achieving SE4All goals by identifying and developing a set of implementable programs and projects, including their investment requirements, which in turn can be presented to the international community of donors, banks, financiers or private investors.
Both countries, being of the poorest countries in the world, having gone through more than 10-year civil wars, and having only recently been declared Ebola free, with devastated economies and energy infrastructures require urgent energy infrastructural interventions.
The Investment Prospectus for Liberia and Sierra Leone, part of the Investment Prospectus initiative for all ECOWAS countries, aims to enhance and facilitate the efforts towards each country’s SE4ALL goals.
