Advances in the environmental assessment of the Transadriatic Pipeline (TAP) project
The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) is a natural gas pipeline project. The pipeline will start in Greece, cross Albania and the Adriatic Sea and come ashore in southern Italy, allowing gas to flow directly from the Caspian region to European markets.
The TAP project is one of the largest energy infrastructure projects currently planned in Greece. EXERGIA is involved in the environmental studies related to the Greek section of TAP for over a year now. These studies are carried out in compliance with the strictest international standards and EBRD Performance Requirements. In late September, TAP submitted a Preliminary Environmental Impact Assessment of the Greek section of the pipeline to the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change (the PEIA is available at TAP website). EXERGIA is currently working towards the preparation of the full Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the project.
